Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin may not have realized she was setting off a media firestorm Saturday when she answered a question from a Philadelphia voter outside a bustling cheesesteak stand.
Days later, the pundits are seizing on reports based on a barely audible YouTube clip of her response in a crowd of about 20 people, and Palin is fighting back with accusations of “gotcha” journalism one day before she’s to participate in the lone vice presidential debate.
With Palin under increasing scrutiny from all angles as her debate with Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) approaches, Gitlin says the McCain campaign has caused some of that pressure by sequestering Palin from reporters.
