The peeps from Harry Potter challenged the peeps from Twilight for a battle of supremacy in the Mega Money Movie Challenge!

    Harry potter vs. Twilight!

    Harry potter vs. Twilight!

As unhappily frustrating and teeth grinding as this story is, it must be told. For an addiction, an obsession, is once again taking the world by storm. And it’s all for Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight series. People of all ages are reading willingly, and communities are laboring to destroy such an austerity.

But yet, something far worse is sweeping alongside this epidemic. The fans, who’ve reread the books multiple times, think and talk about them continuously, and stay up for the midnight book and movie releases, are in denial. For they can’t believe, they can’t even comprehend, that their obsession is anything like the Harry Potter mania.

I stumbled rather innocently upon this fact when I discovered my good friend’s computer background is a Twilight picture. More surprised than anything, I jokingly asked if she liked the book itself or just the good looking actor. Admitting the fine looking actor couldn’t be forgotten, my friend did say she was rather obsessed with the books.

“I read the first one in two days – I haven’t done that since See Spot Run. It was amazing. I’m even going to the midnight showing!” She was practically prancing as she spoke, waving her hands excitedly. “But those books – God, they’re just freakin’ amazing. A-ma-zing.

“Sounds like an orgasm,” I sarcastically replied. “No, better yet, sounds like Harry Potter.” This stopped her floundering short, I must say. In fact, she now looked like a kid caught with her hand in the cookie jar.

“No, no, no, no!” She stamped her foot. “Twilight is way different, like way different!”

“Obviously, man, vampires and wizards – I’ve watched TV you know, I’ve noted the differences. I meant your obsession. It’s how I was with Potter, the rereading and midnight events. Plus they’ve got the world reading again – and people trying to stop it. So Potter and Twilight are pretty similar.”

She literally hesitated for a moment, staring me straight in the face. I could see that I’d caused a clog in the mechanism that fueled her obsessive desire. She wouldn’t, no she couldn’t, allow any aspect of her life to be related to Harry Potter. The absolute horror!

Then she finally sputtered out a phrase that would haunt me throughout my Twilight versus Harry Potter conversations to come. “There’re no vampires in Harry Potter.

There is no question about it in my opinion. It is simply a fact, that the Twilight saga is a mere shadow to the Great Harry Potter collection. One thing that was mentioned above is that, people stood outside for hours awaiting the arrival for the 7th Harry Potter (Deathly Hallows), I believe that makes it an obvious choice.
    Harry Potter:
    -Effort put in shows
    -Planned out (plot)
    -Characters just simply mesmerize you
-JK\’s writing style just amazes you, she can make you hate a single character that you once loved with a snap of her fingers
(ex. Ron Weasley, after his temper tantram in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, I never truely forgave him)
-It has many morals, themes, and ideas:
    -Love, Hate, remorse, death, humor…
    -Stand true to your morals
    -Be a good person
    -I have an endless list
-Fanfiction, people are dieing for more!
    -Great for any age groups
A book to give to someone that hated reading, or just merely scared of the size of a book (me being a prime ex.)
Although the idea of the two books are slightly similar, JK rowling took her\’s to a new level. Anne Rice has written similar book like twilight. By the way, I do not appreciate people bagging on Harry Potter who have not even bothered to read it.

    Twilight
Yes I have read the whole series, and I am not judging. I am not going to say that Twilight it a waste of time, it depends on the audience.
-I believe Twilight is a perfect book for obbsessed teens, moms who love to read about \”tragic love concurs all\” theme
-Charcters…honestly they all sound the same
-The only character that truely sounds diffrent is the one and only Jacob Black
-I applaude Stephine Meyer for giving us Jacob fans a break (Breaking Dawn)
-Descriptions, my god, I could give a 50 page essay on how hot Edward is, or how beautiful vampires are from reading just the 1st book (Twilight)
-The theme: I had a hard time picking it, True love is the best, ditch your friends for it, True love is something to die for?
-Don\’t get me starte on Bella: She\’s like a moon and Edward in her planet.
    Plot:
    - Somehow I believe that the books just don\’t flow, like the fact that the 1st (Twlight) and 3rd (Eclipse) go together, but the 2nd (New Moon)and the 4th go together more than the whole series
-Something that bothers me is that there was no real loss in any of the books, especially the 4th. I was expecting this huge battle, and nothing happens, I was extremely disappointed, very anticlimatic!
-That is a major problem in all of the Series books, how to connect the books together, and how to reviel information, but not too much of it.
-JK had a little trouble with that also, some of the books arn\’t connected too well with the series either (ex. 1, the sorcer\’s stone/Philospher\’s stone did not contribute too much in the 7th and final book)
One thing I applaude JK is for the ability to keep us amazingly hooked, I was unable to put any of the books down, not matter how much I wanted to. And how there is a huge mystry in each book (especially the 4th and the 7th (My fav. in that order)

In conclusion, I give both books A+, but JK rowling’s Harry Potter just went the extra mile (a really long mile)
I’ve wanted to rant about this for a long time. :D
I have a lot more to say on the subject, but I think I took enough room, haha.
